Two arrests as weapons found in car after police chase in Brierley Hill

A large knife and a hammer were among weapons seized from a car after a police chase was ended by a stinger being deployed in Brierley Hill.

The driver failed to stop for officers on Waterfront Way last night so a stinger had to be deployed.

Two people, a 16-year-old boy and a 35-year-old woman, were arrested after the incident and remain in custody today.

Force Response tweeted saying: "Whilst on patrol officers from C unit Brierley Hill saw this car. Our coppers nose told us it didn't look right. It failed to stop, following a pursuit and foot chase we have two in custody for aggravated twoc, possession of weapons and being concerned in the supply of drugs."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "Police pursued a suspected stolen car on Waterfront Way in Brierley Hill at around 8.15pm last night.

"The driver failed to stop for officers, so a stinger was deployed. Officers recovered a large knife and hammer in the vehicle and a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking.

"A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer after she allegedly spat at an officer and taking a vehicle without authority.

"They remain in police custody today."
