Residents in Great Wyrley have been put on alert after homes on four streets were raided with the thieves smashing their way in to snatch cash, jewellery and electrical goods.

Two tracks-suit wearing suspects were captured on CCTV brazenly strolling through one home before fleeing with a safe.

Owner Lee Ashmore shared the footage on social media which has since been viewed by thousands of people.

The 35-year-old construction manager was away on holiday in Newquay with fiancée Sharlotte March when their home on Hilton Lane was raided around 7.15pm on Saturday.

Mr Ashmore said: “A neighbour rang us and told us our French windows had been smashed.

“We come back from Newquay and boarded up the window and then police and forensics came around.

“Our CCTV captured two people. It’s just a shock. I have got floodlights, CCTV, quite a bit of security and they didn’t care. They pulled off the sensors from the floodlights.

“Initially it is just shock at someone in your house. Then it turns to anger.”

One of the suspects caught on the footage was wearing black gloves, light trousers and a light coloured zipped up hooded jacket.

The other was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit with light trim, a beanie-type hat with a scarf covering their face and black gloves.

Mr Ashmore added that it was ‘strange’ a lot of his expensive electronic equipment was left untouched and the two simply made off with the digital safe from his computer room where they had broke off the lock to gain access.

He said the only thing inside was possibly a set of spare car keys to his Jaguar and now he could be faced with a £300 bill to get the locks on his car changed.

Mr Ashmore added: “It just leaves you on edge. You don’t know if they might come back. If they do have the keys they might come back and try and steal the car.” Homes on Walsall Road, Stafford Road and Wharwell Lane were also broken into during the 48-hour spree. Staffordshire Police confirmed they are looking into the possibility of the incidents being linked. A spokesman added: “We have had numerous burglaries reported overnight, specifically in the Great Wyrley area.

“Entry methods vary between forced doors, smashed windows and ladders to access insecure windows.”
