Woman shot in leg during raid on Walsall convenience shop prompting CCTV appeal - WATCH

A shop assistant was shot in the leg during a terrifying raid on a convenience store in Walsall prompting a CCTV appeal.

CCTV footage has been released as police try to trace the suspected raider in a fresh bid for information.

A man walked into the Mount Street Store, in Caldmore, and is seen in footage carrying a bag before looking around the shop.

He started chatting to the cashier but left without buying anything, say police.

A short time later he walked back into the shop with his face covered, brandishing what is believed to be a hand held gas powered ball bearing gun.

He forced the cashier behind the desk before firing the gun into her leg causing minor injuries.

Items were stolen in the raid.

Police said the raid happened at around at around 6.10pm on December 17.
