Sivan Amin is currently standing trial having allegedly stabbed Mircea Gheorghe Cozmiuc more than 20 times in Carter Road, Whitmore Reans.

It was revealed to the jury that while formerly living in Sweden he shot Deren Omar Mohammed in his temple having become jealous of his friend's marriage.

The prosecution allege Amin had become similarly jealous of Mr Cozmiuc's close relationship with an old school friend who joined the 23-year-old in the UK from Romania.

Mr Kevin Hegarty QC, prosecuting, said: "Amin threatened to shoot Mr Mohammed as he wouldn't leave his wife for him.

"One morning Mr Mohammed turned up to work at a pizza shop and there was the defendant with a gun.

"He then shot him in his temple.

"The feelings he had for Mr Cozmiuc were the same feelings he had for Mr Mohammed.

"Did the relationship with Mr Mohammed develop as he wanted? No.

"Did the relationship with Mr Cozmiuc develop as he wanted? No."

The jury at Birmingham Crown Court were told Amin, aged 37, had developed a close friendship with Mr Cozmiuc having lived together firstly in Dunstall Lane and later in Carter Road.

Mr Hegarty QC said they would shop, cook, eat and watch films together.

But it is alleged the relationship soured when Mr Cozmiuc's friend, Andrei Bourceanu, moved in with them at their home in Carter Road.

Mr Hegarty QC, added: "As time went by Amin's affection for Mr Cozmiuc grew stronger and stronger.

"He started buying him presents.

"He bought him a bracelet as a sign of affection. He bought clothes for Mr Cozmiuc.

"But Mr Cozmiuc didn't welcome all this attention and Amin became aggressive about it.

"Matters came to a head in June and there was a row. Amin threatened to put a bullet in Mr Cozmiuc's head.

"Police were called and the upshot was Amin picked up what he could carry and left.

"No doubt he had been booted out.

"It may be during that period when he was no longer there that Amin developed further jealousy for the relationship between Mr Cozmiuc and Andrei Bourceanu who were sharing the same room and the same bed."

Amin, of Merridale Street West, is accused of stabbing Mr Cozmiuc, who worked at Amazon in Rugeley, in the neck and chest on September 3 last year.

He denies murder. The trial continues.
