A robber threatened staff at the banks with claims he had a gun before making off with cash on each occasion.

Police believe the same man is responsible for the three robberies at the bank branches, the latest of which happened on Wednesday.

Two of the robberies happened at TSB on February 28 and March 9 while the third took place at Barclays Bank on Wednesday on Birmingham Street.

On each occasion a man entered the store and handed over a note stating he was armed with a gun.

Police said no weapon was reportedly seen.

Officers say he threatened to harm staff if they did not hand over money and eventually fled with a 'substantial amount of cash' each time.
