Man is stabbed then arrested after Walsall 'domestic'

A man was stabbed then arrested on suspicion of carrying a firearm in a 'domestic' in Walsall.

The 25-year-old was one of two suspects detained yesterday after he was stabbed in what police described as a domestic incident.

A second man, aged 41, was arrested on suspicion of wounding.

Several marked police cars rushed to Birchfield Way in Yew Tree and closed the road off after officers were called at 12.15pm.

The stabbed man was found with non-life threatening injuries, taken to hospital and arrested on suspicion of carrying a firearm, West Midlands Police said.

Confirming the details of the dispute, a force spokesman said: "Officers attended Birchfield Way in Walsall at 12.15pm Thursday following reports of a domestic incident.

"A 25-year-man sustained stab wounds and was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening.

"He has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"A second man aged 41 has been arrested on suspicion of wounding. He is currently in custody and will be questioned by officers in due course."

No charges have been made at this stage.
