Davinder Mann, of Woodruff Way, Walsall, had been drinking with his brother at his home in West Bromwich on New Year's Day when he tried to move his Audi A4.

Mann, aged 36, had noticed he had blocked in a driveway and tried to move his car after a long drinking session.

One of his brother's neighbours saw Mann crash into another car and when asked to provide insurance details, Mann was too drunk to provide the information.

Police officers found he had 121 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Mann pleaded guilty at Walsall Magistrates' Court to driving when above the legal alcohol limit.

He said he had no intention of driving back home and had always intended to stop at his brother's home, in Berkshire Close.

Magistrates banned Mann from driving for 29 months and offered him the chance of completing a rehabilitation course in that time.

If that is completed, he will be able to legally drive again by December 5, 2018.

If not completed, his ban will finish on June 26, 2019.

As part of his sentence, Mann must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the community.
