Security guard attacked during robbery outside Kidderminster bank

A security guard was hit over the head by a robber who stole cash from a van outside a bank branch in Kidderminster.

Police have launched an appeal following the violent robbery which happened in the town centre today.

A man approached a security guard outside the van by the Natwest branch, on the town's high street.

Police say he struck the guard on the head before leaving the scene with a quantity of cash at around 11.30am.

The man is described as being black, around 6 foot tall, of average build and wearing a black coat with a fur collar and a deerstalker hat.

Police believe he fled the scene in the direction of Coventry Street and Blackwell Street.

The security guard suffered minor injuries.
