Surjit Takhar was last seen alive in 2008 and remained missing for seven years until the grim discovery next to the M54 near Shifnal last year.

Detectives have confirmed his death is now being treated as murder, while his ex-wife and children have made a fresh plea for information over his death.

Police have released a new picture of the victim, from Oldbury, who was 37 when he went missing.

Mr Tahkar's brother-in-law Jasvir Sohl has also spoken about the kind of person he was.

Mr Sohl said: "Surjit Takhar was a genuine, one-in-a million-individual who loved with all his heart and was loved by us all.

"Kind, thoughtful and helpful, who could light up a place like no other.

"We are heartbroken we will never see him again and know he would feel the same that he will not be able to see and embrace loving moments in this life with his friends and family.

"He will always live in all our and all his families hearts just as we will in his. We can only pray his soul is at rest and has found peace."

It comes after Mr Takhar's ex-wife Lavina Sohl, from Willenhall, issued an emotional appeal for information which could help police unlock the mystery of how and why the delivery driver was killed. It is still not known how the father-of-three died.

He remained a missing person until maintenance workers made the horrific discovery near Junction 4 of the motorway in Shropshire in August 2015.

Detectives said they are keen to delve further into the victim's life before he went missing, where he went and who he associated with.

He had a wide circle of friends in the Asian community and would regularly visit pubs in the Handsworth area.

Anyone with information should call detectives on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
