Grandmother killed in Aldridge crash named as Hazel Goodyear

A woman killed when two cars collided in Aldridge was named by police today as Hazel Goodyear.

The 67-year-old, who lived locally, died after a white Mini Cooper and a silver Peugeot 107 collided on Stubbers Green Road.

It happened at around 7am yesterday, and she was confirmed dead the scene.

Her family have paid tribute.

They said: 'It is with great sadness that we announce Hazel passed away. She was not only a loved mother, grandmother and sister but well known and respected by everyone.

"We kindly ask you to respect the family and give us privacy at this difficult time.''

Dc Claire Byrne from the Regional Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of Hazel at this tragic time."

The driver of the Mini Cooper was treated at the scene and is currently assisting police with the investigation.

Dc Byrne added: "We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the incident to contact police as soon as possible."
