Dean Hanzel raped one of his victims twice by hiding in her bedroom after pretending to leave the address in a taxi.

The brash 26-year-old boasted about his sexual prowess and treated women with contempt, repeatedly declaring 'most are slags and liars,' Wolverhampton Crown Court heard yesterday.

He had known his first victim for many years but had lost touch before they met up again at a BBQ in August 2013 after which he was invited back to her home with other people.

Hanzel told the woman he had something to tell her in private and kissed her when they were alone.

She did not object but told him it must not go any further. He ignored this and resolved to have sex with her, the court was told.

The defendant claimed to be unwell and went to lie on her bed upstairs where he pounced, grabbing her by the throat, when she checked he was alright.

He raped and sexually assaulted the woman who was so traumatised she did not report the incident for six weeks.

In August last year he was among a group invited back to the home of a woman he had met for the first time.

He pretended to leave but crept into her bedroom where he raped her twice, when she came in.

The suspect was freed pending further inquiries and while on bail claimed another victim on April 30 this year whom he met at a night club.

They got on well and when outside together he sexually assaulted her.

Hanzel, who had previous convictions for violence, denied all the offences but, after a trial, was convicted of three rapes and four assaults by penetration. All the offences were in the Dudley area.

Hanzel from Brandon Close, West Bromwich was sentenced yesterday by Judge Nicholas Webb who told him: "Beneath the surface, you are a predatory and dangerous man."

Hanzel must serve at least two thirds of his sentence before being considered for parole.
