Two arrested after 90-year-old Wolverhampton man hit by car on A449 dies

Two men have been arrested after a pensioner was killed on the A449 near Wombourne.

The 90-year-old man was hit by a black VW Scirocco at about 5.20pm on Friday night at Penn Cottage, Lower Penn.

Police have named the man as Frederick Dudley, from Bearnett Drive, Wolverhampton.

He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem examination will take place on Monday.

Two men have been arrested by Staffordshire detectives for offences connected with the incident, they are a 27-year-old from Wolverhampton and a 25-year-old from Kingswinford.

A vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision has been recovered and is undergoing examination as part of the detailed investigation into this incident.
