Shakeel Janjua careered into the parked Vauxhall Insignia sending sales manager Ivan Trebinski, 61, flying.

The victim had tailed the 19-year-old to Clydesdale Road, Quinton, from Halesowen High Street where he had been cut up by the Astra driven by the defendant on July 2 last year.

Mr Paul Spratt, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court: "Mr Trebinski was about to walk over to remonstrate after both cars stopped when the Astra suddenly sped away."

Janjua drove off leaving the dazed sales manager with an injured shoulder before he crashed into it at a nearby traffic island.

The defendant had also stolen a £1,500 Seat Leon on June 27, which was being sold by Faizal Mahmood, who he threatened with a gun, later treated as an imitation firearm, during a viewing at Bordesley Green. The car was dumped after being involved in an accident soon afterwards.

Janjua was arrested on July 3 and bailed pending further inquiries but on May 29 this year was seen speeding in a stolen Vauxhall Meriva on false plates.

Mr Gurdeep Garcha, defending, said: "He has foolishly made some very grave mistakes."

Janjua from Knowle Hill Road, Netherton, pleaded guilty to robbery, possession of an imitation firearm, assault, dangerous driving and possession of both cannabis and a knife.
