"An offender wearing a balaclava and dark clothing smashed glass in the door of a phone shop on Gaolgate Street at 12:30am and offenders forced a rear door at a shoe shop in Mill Street sometime overnight.

"It's not known at this stage what was stolen during the incidents but Staffordshire Police would like to warn business owners to be on their guard and to make sure their premises are as secure as possible outside of working hours.

"Could you also please check any alarm and cctv systems are in good working order and switched on.

"Anyone with any cctv coverage of either of these incidents is asked to contact Staffordshire Police."
