A murder investigation was launched after Karl Swift, from south Yorkshire, was found in New Road, on September 9.

The 33-year-old was discovered with serious head injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries the following day.

Four men aged 58, 51, 29, another man aged 29, all from Sheffield and a 23-year-old man from Rotherham were arrested in Yorkshire on suspicion of murder yesterday morning.

Police believe that an incident may have taken place at the nearby William Shenstone Wetherspoon's pub, in Queensway, shortly before the attack.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Paul Joyce from West Midlands Police's Homicide Team, said: "The arrests are a significant development in the investigation, but we are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area on Thursday 8 September into the early hours of Friday morning.

"We still believe there may have been an incident at the William Shenstone Wetherspoons pub in Halesowen prior to Mr Swift leaving.

"I would urge anyone who was in the pub between 4pm and 10pm on Thursday 8 September who has not yet spoken to us to call my team."

Information can be passed directly to Det Insp Joyce by calling 101 or call charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
