Tipton teenager found dead in Birmingham prompting murder investigation - WATCH police witness appeal

A 19-year-old from the Black Country has died in suspicious circumstances in Birmingham prompting a murder investigation.

West Midlands Police initially responded to reports of a man bundled into a car and driven away amid scenes of disorder at The Gardens, in Erdington, Birmingham, at 8.50pm last night.

But shortly after at 8.55pm officers were called to Hunton Road, less than a minute away, to what was believed to be a hit-and-run collision with a pedestrian.

A 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The force has since confirmed the victim was from Tipton but have not yet named him.

While a 22-year-old man who was assaulted in the attack was not seriously injured.

Investigators are linking the two incidents and have issued an appeal for information on a blue Mercedes and silver VW Passat which were believed to be involved.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, said: "At this stage we are treating the man's death as suspicious.

"I believe there were two vehicles involved in this incident a blue Mercedes and a silver VW Passat and I would ask that anyone who saw these cars in the area around The Gardens and Hunton Road to contact me as a matter of urgency.

"The circumstances are still being investigated and I am keeping an open mind into what happened.

"The family of the teenager have been informed of his death and are being supported by specialist officers at this time."
