Tanveer Iqbal murder: Teenage defendant sentenced for perverting the course of justice
A teenager was today sentenced for perverting the course of justice linked to the murder of Smethwick music producer Tanveer Iqbal.
The 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named due to legal reasons, appeared before Birmingham Crown Court.
She was sentenced to a youth rehabilitation order including a three-year supervision requirement.
The body of Tanveer Iqbal, who ran Smethwick store Hi-Tech Music, was found on February 1 this year in a cardboard box inside the boot of his own Renault Clio, which had been abandoned on Portland Road in Edgbaston.
He had been strangled, and his former lover 37-year-old Zatoon Bibi of Bridgeburn Road, Bartley Green, and her ex-husband 44-year-old Gul Nawaz of Roway Lane, Oldbury were found guilty of his murder, along with their 16-year-old son Kashim Nawaz earlier this week.
Bibi and Gul Nawaz will both serve life sentences for murder. Bibi will serve a minimum of 27 years, while Gul Nawaz will serve at least 25 years.
Kashim Nawaz will be detained for a minimum of six years.
Bibi had been in a long-term relationship with Mr Iqbal, and had two children by him.
