A total of 861 plants were found at the properties in Stourbridge Road, Russells Hall, early this morning.

A 'strong smell' from the addresses lead police to the factory, officers said.

The raid was a joint operation conducted by police officers from Dudley, West Midlands Police Cannabis Team and helicopter crews from the National Police Air Service based in Birmingham.

The factory was spread across seven rooms. Police officers said 48,600 watts of stolen electricity was used to cultivate the plants.

The Cannabis Disposal Team tweeted: "The heat combined with a strong smell of cannabis from the seven grows rooms led to the discovery at two adjoining addresses."
