Gazza guilty on race 'joke': Paul Gascoigne speaks out after conviction over Wolverhampton Civic Hall show

Paul Gascoigne has spoken of his sadness, claiming 'Everyone is my family whatever race' after being fined for making a racist comment to a black security guard.

The 49-year-old was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £1,000 in compensation to his victim after the incident during a show at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall.

He tweeted about his sadness over the incident after pleading guilty on the day of his trial at Dudley Magistrates' Court yesterday to using "threatening or abusive words or behaviour".

Gascoigne, whose career included spells at Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Rangers, changed his plea on what was supposed to be the day of trial.

The incident to happened during his An Evening With Gazza show on November 30.

Dudley Magistrates' Court was told Gascoigne humiliated Errol Rowe, who had been assigned to protect him during his show, by asking him: "Can you smile please, because I can't see you?"

The retired footballer tweeted to his 101,000 followers: "I accept my fine I'm an easy go lucky guy I want an easy life and I suppose it's me my problems is I think every1 is my family what ever race."

He added: "I'm sad this has come to this I'm smiling outside but inside I'm hurting as if most I just want peace in this world lots of love GAZZA xx"
