Man suffers slashes to his stomach in 'terrifying' Cheslyn Hay robbery

A 22-year-old man suffered slash wounds to his stomach and a cut to his hands when he was robbed in an alleyway by multiple attackers.

The victim was walking along the alleyway known locally as 'Quarter Mile' in Cheslyn Hay alongside the Eatons Brick factory towards Rosemary Road when he was jumped.

Staffordshire Police has now issued a witness appeal following the terrifying attack at 11.30pm last Friday - August 12 - in which the man's wallet was stolen.

It is not known how many offenders were there and despite the fact ambulance crews treated the victim at his home for slashes to his stomach and a cut to his hand, the force said it was 'not clear' if a weapon was used in the attack.

A police statement said: "Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses following a street robbery in South Staffordshire at approximately 11.30pm last Friday.

"A 22-year-old male was walking along 'Quarter Mile' in Cheslyn Hay, an alleyway that runs alongside Eatons Brick factory, when he was jumped by an unknown number of unknown offenders. He was assaulted and his wallet was taken. He received treatment at home from an ambulance crew for slashes to his stomach and a cut to the hand. It is not clear if a weapon was used.

"The alleyway opens up to Rosemary Road.

"Did you see anything that night or know any information relating to this incident?"
