The men, both aged 18, were detained at a property in Dudley at around 9.20pm yesterday after the man's body was found at a semi-detached house on Cradley Road 12 hours earlier.

Police have also revealed that the victim was aged 41 and is yet to be formally identified, although his family have been informed.

The two suspects remain in custody.

Police at the scene on Thursday afternoon

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after officers were called to Cradley Road by the ambulance service at around 9.40am yesterday.

Specialist officers are supporting the victim's family and a forensic post-mortem is due to take place today.

Parts of Bodmin Road and Cradley Road were closed while police examined the scene

Outside the house in Cradley Road yesterday, forensic officers dressed in white overalls were busy working on the murder investigation, alongside uniformed officers who were patrolling the area.

Police cordon tape had been placed across the outside of the property, while a section of Bodmin Road was also sealed off.

Forensic crews were seen installing a blue plastic sheet over the ground floor windows of the property.

Outside the house was a van with the name Black Country Glazing on it. But the firm would not comment.

Fred Turner, aged 79, said: "I was shocked and couldn't believe it to see all the police cars and ambulances.

"When I saw forensics I thought it was something serious.

"Nobody seemed to know exactly what was going on. I was going shopping and when I drive past I saw it all."

One resident, who just wished to be known as Dan, said: "It is shocking to see what was happening. It was about half past nine when the emergency services came.

"I was already outside when the ambulance crews turned up. Then one police car turned up with a battering ram, and then loads turned up.

"The ambulance crews came first and the police followed within literally minutes. The police went to the door with the battering ram, messed with the window and then went round the back."

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, from West Midlands Police's Homicide Team, is leading the murder inquiry and continues to appeal for information.

He said: "We are still piecing together the circumstances of this man's death and members of the local community could play a part in helping us to do that.

"If you saw anything ? regardless of how insignificant you think it may be - and have not yet spoken to us, I would ask you to give me a call."

Anyone with information should call DI Hines on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
