Declan Osbourne 'hit-and-run': Man charged over crash that left teen moped rider with life-changing injuries

A man has been charged after a Sandwell teenager was left in a coma after allegedly being knocked of his moped by a driver who did not stop.

Declan Osborne, 16, was hit just 30 seconds away from his home at around 9.20pm on January 30 and was in a coma for two weeks.

Albion fan Declan, who attends Ormiston Forge Academy in Cradley Heath, suffered a broken collarbone, cheekbone, ankle and multiple facial fractures in the collision.

It happened in Rowley Village, at the junction with Mackmillan Road, and the driver is said to have left the scene before police arrived.

Today, West Midlands Police said Danny Thomas Dale, 24, of Habberley Road, Rowley Regis had been charged and bailed to appear at Sandwell magistrates on August 4.

He is accused of driving without a licence and insurance, failing to stop at an accident, failing to report an accident and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
