Two men and two women were detained when officers swooped in the early-hours operation in Bushbury.

Two firearms, a large amount of what is thought to be crack cocaine and heroin, and a 'substantial' amount of cash were found when officers from the Serious Organised Crime Unit raided the property in Stanley Road, supported by local neighbourhood police.

They arrested two men, aged 22 and 24, and two women, aged 24 and 33, on suspicion of possession of firearms and possession of Class A and Class B drugs with intent to supply.

The guns will now be forensically examined to see if they are linked to any crimes around the region.

DCI Sam Ridding, from West Midlands Police CID, said: "We are at an early stage in our investigation into the recovery of firearms and what appears to be drugs.

"Any weapon seized represents a potential life saved.

"We have a zero tolerance to both gun and drug crime and I would urge anyone with information about these kinds of offences to call us."

Anyone who knows somebody with a gun, or knows where one may be kept, should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
