Two Wolverhampton Pcs facing sack for selling counterfeit goods

Two police officers working in Wolverhampton will face a misconduct panel after admitting selling counterfeit goods.

Pc Jason Leigh and Pc Kristian Jones purchased the fake goods and sold them via online auction site eBay as if they were the genuine items.

West Midlands Police said the sales took place between September 2014 and February last year.

Both officers, who worked within Wolverhampton Local Policing Unit, will face the police misconduct panel from 1pm on May 26 at Tally Ho Conference Centre, Pershore Road, Birmingham.

Proceedings are scheduled to last for five days. If either officer is found to have committed gross misconduct they could face dismissal from the force.

Both officers pleaded guilty to three counts of selling goods with packaging bearing a sign identical to or likely to be mistaken for registered trade mark when they appeared before Birmingham magistrates on April 5.

They were sentenced on April 27 to a community order for 12 months which includes 60 hours unpaid work, court costs £185 and a victim surcharge £60.
