Sutton Coldfield pregnant woman stabbing: Man in court charged with attempted murder

A man charged with the attempted murder of a pregnant woman and attempted child destruction has appeared in court.

The 40-year-old pregnant woman was stabbed multiple times in Sutton Coldfield on Friday afternoon.

Babur Karamat Raja did not enter a plea at Birmingham Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody to appear for a further hearing at Birmingham Crown Court on April 6.

The 41-year-old, from Sutton, is also accused of a second count of attempted murder, assault, and possession of a knife in a public place.

The woman remains in critical care in hospital today where her condition is described as stable. Her baby girl was born in hospital on Friday night and is doing well.
