Nathan Morris was arrested on August 26 last year when police spotted him dealing from his car in Church Street, Darlaston.

When officers approached, the 28-year-old reversed at speed and smashed into three police cars and another stationary car.

However, police managed to stop the car and after restraining the unemployed man found several wraps of suspected Class A drugs and two mobile phones.

After Morris's arrest, officers searched his home in Madison Avenue, Brierley Hill and found a large stash of heroin and cocaine.

Outside the dealer's home was a black Ford Mondeo, for which Morris had the key, containing more Class A drugs, a bolt-action shotgun, a smoothbore revolver and shotgun shells.

He was charged with possession of two firearms and ammunition, possession of Class A drugs and dangerous driving.

And at the start of his trial yesterday Morris admitted the charges and was sentenced to ten years and three months at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Inspector Keeley Bevington, from Walsall Police, said: "This lengthy sentence shows that gun and drug crime have no place in our communities and is the latest conviction in our fight to take firearms and drugs off our streets."
