Baby 'seriously assaulted' in Wolverhampton: Infant remains in critical condition

A baby remains in a critical condition in hospital following an alleged assault in Wolverhampton.

The youngster was taken to New Cross Hospital in cardiac arrest on October 24 and later transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital due to the seriousness of its condition.

A 21-year-old man is currently remanded in custody after he was charged with causing grievous bodily harm, engaging in sexual activity with the baby and causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

An 18-year-old woman was charged with the same offences and is currently on bail.
