Alan Spilsbury, from Emerson Road, The Scotlands, was pulled over by police carrying out regular patrols around Colley Avenue, Low Hill, just after 8pm on August 28.

Spilsbury, 38, gave a breath reading of 142 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres, just over four times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

Spilsbury was also driving a Hynundai Atoz without insurance, an MOT or a suitable licence at the time he was pulled over.

He had previously pleaded guilty to the combined driving offences at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court, however his sentencing was adjourned while a probation report on his character was put together.

Spilsbury was given an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, banned from driving for three years, given a one-month curfew and ordered to undertake a six-month alcohol treatment requirement.

He was also told to pay £85 court charges, a £150 criminal charge and a victim surcharged of £80.
