Wolverhampton worker attacked with blade in violent robbery at Costcutter

A shop worker was left with cuts to his head and face when a masked raider armed with a blade attacked him during a robbery.

The victim, 21 and from Wolverhampton, was taken to Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital after the attack at Costcutter in Wombourne, which saw the robber make off with cash from the till.

It happened at the Common Road store at around 10.10pm on Sunday, but details were only released by Staffordshire police today.

The force said the victim's injuries were not life threatening, as they appealed for help in tracing the suspect.

He was described as white, with his face covered, and around 6ft tall and of medium build.

Police said they were also trying to trace the owner of a black Vauxhall Corsa seen in Common Road at the time of the raid.
