M6 chase driver arrested after 'crashing into cars and running across gardens'

A stolen car collided with a bus and other vehicles today after police ripped its tyres with a stinger.

The 21-year-old suspect is alleged to have jumped out of the black Ford Focus after a police stinger took out its tyres at junction seven of the M6 at Great Barr.

Officers say he was found hiding in a garden a short time later.

The drama unfolded at around 11am when the car failed to stop for police, between junctions six for Birmingham and seven northbound.

The driver left the motorway at junction seven, where a stinger was deployed.

It drove down Queslett Road with two flat tyres and hit cars, a bus, a pedestrian crossing and a police vehicle.

The driver eventually the car and headed off on foot.

Police found him hiding in a front garden in Mildenhall Road, a short distance from the motorway, and he was arrested on suspicion of theft of the vehicle.

Police said no one was injured, and the collisions were not serious.
