Former care worker accused of trying to murder staff appearing in court next year

A former care worker and special constable accused of attempting to murder staff at the West Bromwich accommodation complex where she worked will appear in court again next year.

Melissa Swift, 23, of Hambletts Road, West Bromwich, is faces three charges of attempted murder, two of administering poison, two of threats to kill, theft of a drug and possession of a controlled drug.

She was arrested on August 4 after residents and staff, at Goldfield Court in West Bromwich were taken ill with food poisoning type symptoms.

They later recovered. She had been due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court to enter pleas today, but the case was adjourned until February.
