Reid, 26, notched his seventh goal of the season as League Two Plymouth Argyle beat Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

The forward was out celebrating the victory when police were called out to a 'public order incident' outside Plymouth's Oceana nightspot.

CCTV operators and security staff dialled 999 at 2:40am after a group reportedly began fighting in the street.

Officers arrested Reid, 26, and a second man, 24, on suspicion of affray. They are still trying to trace the third man, the alleged victim.

Reid was taken into custody for questioning but both men and were later released on police bail until November 25 pending further inquiries.

Reuben Reid is top scorer for sixth-placed Argyle, who beat Tranmere Rovers 1-0 at Prenton Park.

He previously played for Yeovil Town, scoring 21 goals in all competitions last season, and played a handful of West Brom games from 2009 to 2011.

He played just four goalless games for the Baggies and was loaned to two clubs, including the Saddlers where he made 18 appearances scoring three times, before joining Oldham.

Plymouth Argyle declined to comment on the situation regarding their star striker today.
