Officers raided homes in the Midlands and south of England during a two day operation aimed at smashing a vice ring allegedly forcing predominately Asian women to work in brothels after trafficking them into the UK.

Two women, aged 35 and 41, were arrested in Wolverhampton at an address in Albion Street, Horseley Fields.

A total of 15 people were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to manage and control brothels in an operation led by Warwickshire police.

Phones, cash and banking details were also seized. These will now be analysed to establish whose pockets cash from the enterprise went into.

Det Con Ally Wright said: "The actions this week are the latest in a coordinated police operation throughout the UK targeting ruthless organised crime groups that use and abuse vulnerable women to make substantial profits in sophisticated and organised crime.

"Searches carried out this week recovered a significant number of phones, cash and banking materials which will allow officers to examine the structure and hierarchy of this organised crime group."

Two homes in Nottingham were raided along with two in Warwickshire, and one each in Reading, Slough, Wolverhampton, Torquay and London.
