Nova Evans, from Bilston, has made numerous noise and anti-social behaviour complaints to police over the years but has been told that the behaviour near her home cannot be classed as anti-social and she should move to protect her health.

The last time Mrs Evans, who has lived at her home for over 40 years, made a complaint she alleges she was told that selling up may be an option.

She said: "When I was told that I should consider selling the house I was disgusted.

"My husband and I worked hard for many years so we could pay for our home and I don't see any reason why I should have to leave.

Mrs Evans has made a number of complaints

Mrs Evans said the dispute has been the bane of her life for the past five years. Son David moved back home when his father passed away and has believes his mother's health is suffering as a result of the stress caused.

He said: "If she has been told to sell the house to protect her health, surely the police realise that this is affecting her health.

"How can it not be anti-social behaviour to cause harm? Why don't the police do something to protect her health?" Mrs Evans has made regular calls to police officers over this period to complain about alleged verbal intimidation, car horns being sounded at all hours and issues over garden space.

West Midlands Police said they have not taken action against the neighbours as they have received no other complaints and cannot class the behaviour as anti-social. The force would not confirm if the comment about Mrs Evans selling up had been made. However acting sergeant Martin Danher, from Wolverhampton Local Policing Unit, said: "We have received numerous complaints from one resident throughout a long running neighbour dispute. The complaints range from noise from car horns to moving of wheelie bins."
