West Midlands Police were called to Argos in the Wulfrun Centre at 2.40pm on Wednesday to reports a 19-year-old man had been slashed with a knife.
The victim was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A 40-year-old suspect from Bilston was arrested and questioned by police. Officers have now been granted a superintendent's extension which allows detectives a further 12 hours to interview him.
Any further extension would require an application to the courts.
Witnesses are urged to call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
