This is the moment a bank robber dressed as a builder targeted a branch of West Bromwich Building Society and claimed he had a gun.
The man lifted a satchel up to the counter and said it contained the weapon as he demanded staff hand over money.
He was handed a 'large amount of cash' from a drawer, but when other cashiers said they could not open locked tills he left.
It happened at the Birmingham Washwood Heath Road branch of the building society at around 2.15pm on June 25.
Dc Craig Oakley, from Force CID, said: “The man was quite brazen and obviously did not realise that he had been captured on the building society’s CCTV system.
“He was wearing several items that made him distinctive, from the black school-type satchel, to spotty white and blue trainers.
“We now need people to come forward to help us identify the suspect so he can be questioned in connection with this crime."
He is described as African-Caribbean, with a light skin complexion, aged in his early to mid 30s, of slim build, with a slight beard and a clear Birmingham accent.
He was wearing a white builder’s hard-hat, a high visibility long sleeved tabard, round prescription-type glasses, a white or light t-shirt, a black satchel, dark gloves and black and grey construction-type trousers.
