Armed robbers caught on CCTV

Terrifying CCTV images have been revealed in a bid to identify armed robbers who donned high-visibility tabards during a security van raid in Walsall.

The robbers struck while the vehicle was collecting money from Walsall Housing Group in Hatherton Street.

As the guard placed the cash box into the rear of the van, he was threatened by two masked men with a crowbar

They then hit him across the face, breaking the visor on his helmet, before stealing the box and leaving in a black BMW one series. The car left the area in the direction of Butts Road.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information on the robbery, which happened at 10.30am on June 13, to come forward.

Detective Gerry Maley from Bloxwich police station said: "We have released images from the robbery in the hope the clothing the men are wearing ? particularly the ATS high visibility jacket ? might be familiar to someone.

"There are many organisations which use the initials ATS, but we are yet to identify which company this jacket may be linked with, so this information would be extremely useful.

"This was a violent robbery but thankfully, the offenders only broke the guard's hat and he suffered just minor injuries.

"It is likely the offenders may have discarded the cash box afterwards, so we're also keen to hear from anyone who may have come across a similar item in the last month, which they may not have connected to an offence at the time."
