Teen arrested for firearms offences after Wolverhampton city centre shooting drama

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion firearms offences after gun and knife violence flared in Wolverhampton city centre.

The 16-year-old boy, from the Whitmore Reans area of the city, was held yesterday after two people were injured in trouble near to the Britannia Hotel.

He was being questioned today on suspicion of firearms offences and violent disorder.

A woman was hurt and a boy of 15 was left with stab wounds before police were called to the area at around 8.10pm on Saturday.

Police said at the time they believed a weapon had been fired.

In another development, a 17-year-old was appearing before the city's youth court today charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the trouble.
