It is believed petrol was used to set the front door alight at Tracey Powell's property in Bloxwich Road, Walsall in the early hours of yesterday.

Gary Griffiths, aged 43, of Proffitt Close, Brownhills, has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life and was appearing before Walsall magistrates today.

Miss Powell, who works at City of Wolverhampton College, said she had only just moved into the Edwardian terraced house near the Hospital Street junction at the weekend.
