Raiders steal £6k jewellery and cash in Kidderminster house raid

Thousands of pounds in cash and jewellery, including an historic coin, has been stolen from a house.

Thieves targeted the property, in Summerhill Avenue, Kidderminster. They climbed on a garage roof before forcing a bedroom window to enter the house.

Police today said £1,130 in 20p coins, packed in green £10 money bags, £420 in £20 notes, and a further £400 in £20 and £10 notes was taken.

An 18-carat gold ring with a platinum mount and a large central diamond surrounded by six or seven sapphires worth £2,500 was also stolen.

A 22-carat gold ring with a large ruby surrounded by diamonds, worth £1,000, and an 18-carat gold ring with two ruby clusters worth £500, and two 22-carat gold plain wedding bands worth £300 also disappeared.

They also took a George III copper penny dating from 1800 which was worth £15.
