A man has been questioned by police and bailed after a city centre shove on a street entertainer, who fell on top of a small girl watching the performance.
A human statue, which has been seen regularly in recent weeks outside the entrance to Birmingham's Bullring shopping centre - was pushed off a podium by a man caught on mobile phone camera footage moments later, running off laughing.
YouTube footage of the shove to the performer - dressed as sci-fi character Predator - attracted tens of thousands of views since it was posted on Sunday.
Now officers have revealed a 20-year-old man from Small Heath contacted Birmingham Police this afternoon to make arrangements to surrender to police for questioning.
He was quizzed by neighbourhood officers before being bailed pending further investigation.
Birmingham Police Inspector Stuart Bill said the incident could have had serious consequences. He said: “The street performer was shoved from behind and lunged forward on top of a young child who'd been staring up at him.
“Thankfully both the man and the little girl appear to have been unhurt though, as neither the man or the girl's parents have contacted police, we can't be 100 per cent sure so I'd encourage them to contact us.”
