A shoplifter made off with £228 worth of Star Wars and Superhero DVDs from HMV.
Jamie Youlden, aged 29, swiped 11 DVDs from HMV in the Mander Centre, Wolverhampton on Tuesday before putting them in his bag and making a run for it.
He was spotted on CCTV and followed to Red Lion Street in the city centre and arrested.
When the items were recovered it was found Youlden had taken two copies of Star Wars, three copies of The Avengers and six copies of Iron Man.
Mrs Lauranne Middleton, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court yesterday that Youlden said to police he stole the items to sell ‘because he was hungry’.
Mrs Baley Paul, defending, said: “Mr Youlden has no money and is waiting for his benefits to come through. It’s a straight forward matter and he has made full and frank admissions.”
Youlden of Birmingham Road, Willenhall, Coventry, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft.
He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs. He must also pay a £20 victim surcharge.
