A gun found by children in bushes in Walsall has been sent to a specialist laboratory to see if there is any connection to a crime.
The weapon and ammunition was discovered in bushes at Chuckery Park, off Paddock Lane and Holtshill Lane earlier this week.
Youngsters discovered the items in a plastic bag in a wooded area.
It has now been sent off to the National Ballistics Intelligence Service (NABIS) by West Midlands Police to analyse whether it has any links to criminal activity.
Youngsters discovered the items in a plastic bag in a wooded area at around 4.40pm on Monday.
Residents in the area have spoken of their shock with fears children could have used it thinking it was a toy.
