The holiday-time raid saw hundreds of computers taken from the North East Wolverhampton Academy, in Marsh Lane, Wolverhampton.

Officers described the theft, which has left pupils potentially starting the new term without computers, as 'despicable'.

The thieves stole 150 netbooks, 60 laptops, 30 iPads and 20 PCs and caused several thousands of pounds of damage in the process.

Wolverhampton North Sergeant Martin Hewitt said: "It's a despicable act."

CCTV is being examined in the hope of catching the offenders on camera.
