A security guard had a bowl smashed over his head by shoppers at a supermarket in Wolverhampton, sparking a CCTV appeal by police today.
The victim, aged 21, needed several stitches in hospital after he was hit with the mixing bowl in Aldi.
Today, West Midlands Police released three images of a suspect wanted over the unprovoked attack.
Dc Zahid Ahmed, from Force CID, said: "The young security guard appears to have been attacked for no real reason.
"Two men walked around the store and began messing about before goading the security guard into trying to remove them from the store.
"In the course of the fracas the young man was hit over the head with a heavy mixing bowl and he was beaten by one of these men.
"His injuries were quite serious, but thankfully he is recuperating well.
"We urge anyone who recognises the man pictured to come forward to help our enquiries."
A 39-year-old man from Wolverhampton, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and later bailed.
The man police still want to trace is described as black, of large build, with a beard, around 6ft 2in tall, and he was wearing a dark grey or black T-shirt with a distinctive white logo on the front, dark grey jogging bottoms and a black and white scarf draped around his neck.
