Hammer raiders escape with £30k from Walsall shop
Masked raiders armed with hammers threatened staff and stole up to £30,000 from a Walsall shop, police said today.
The three robbers forced workers to open a safe and tills at Martins News and post office in Park Hall.
They stormed into the building at Gillity Shopping Centre, off Liskeard Road, at around 9.15am on Saturday.
Nobody was injured in the attack but detectives have launched an investigation and are appealing for information.
Councillor Rose Martin said there were fears the shopping centre was becoming a crime hotspot.
The cash machine at the Co-op had been targeted previously.
