Five masked men stormed into a Tividale shop and terrorised staff before fleeing with a wheelie bin full of cigarettes and cash.

The raiders forced staff at the Co-op in Regent Road to sit on the floor and then leaped over the counter last night.

They then filled the wheelie bin with the cigarettes and cash from the till before escaping in a vehicle described as a dark-coloured jeep. Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the robbery, which happened just before 10pm.

Staff were said to have been "very shaken" by the raid, although nobody was hurt. The wheelie bin is believed to have been stolen just before the robbery and police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen that happening.

Anyone with information that might help should call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
