Dibble Road in Smethwick closed after house roof collapse

A street has been closed off by emergency services after a house roof collapsed.

It was feared that an explosion had caused the the roof to cave in on the end terrace house in Smethwick.

But after examination structural problems with the building, in Dibble Road, were the likely cause of the damage.

A cordon remains in place today following the roof collapse which happened at around 3.50pm yesterday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said a hazardous area response team, paramedic area support officer and a doctor were sent to the scene.

But after a search no-one was found inside the building.

Sandwell Council confirmed Dibble Road is closed between Totnes Road and High Street and will remain so until further notice.
