West Midlands Fire Service top dogs are good at sniffing out best beauty spots

Dogs working for the West Midlands Fire Service enjoyed another day out in the Black Country.

Fire dogs Kai, Pep and Carla were snapped by their handler, Mat Dixon, having the time of their lives around Walsall Arboretum.

The dogs are part of the West Midlands Fire Investigation Team and can help to identify the cause of fires.

But they are becoming more famous for their exploits on Twitter.

Mr Dixon runs the Twitter account West Midlands Fire Dogs, where he regularly snaps his three dogs out and about, and posts his pictures online.

In the past the Belgian shepherd, the German shepherd and the German shorthaired pointer have been snapped all over the West Midlands.

Now the dogs have made an appearance at the arboretum and a series of snaps have been posted onto their personal Twitter page.

In the first of the four pictures the dogs can be seen leaning up against a wall, with both Kai and Pep looking serious and keeping their tongues firmly in their mouths.

However, Cara is not going along with the game and happily sticks her tongue out, almost like she is blowing a raspberry to her handler and cameraman.

In the second snap the dogs can be seen posing on some steps in the famous park, with Cara again sticking her tongue out.

However, it is the third shot where Cara really comes into her own.

The picture shows her balancing on a bridge in the park, again sticking her tongue out as far as possible for all to see.

Meanwhile, Kai and Pep are posing behind as they rest their front paws on the edge of the bridge.

Kai is nowhere to be seen in the fourth snap as Pep poses behind Cara, who has completed the set with her tongue out again.

After the visit Mr Dixon tweeted Walsall Council to say his dogs enjoyed a 'lovely walk around the arboretum', describing it as a 'great park' and praising the local authority.

The council said it is 'very proud' of the arboretum and added it was 'happy' to see it being used all year round.

Fabulous

Councillor Chris Jones, the clean and green boss at the council, said: "West Midlands Fire Service clearly has some very discerning dogs – what fabulous pictures.

"We're very proud of our beautiful arboretum and happy to see it being well used all year." Covering more than 80 acres, the arboretum includes a boating lake, bowling green, playing fields and a children's play area. It also has more than 10,000 species of tree and shrub.
