Recognise this car? CCTV released after grandfather killed in Aldridge Road 'hit and run'
Police have released CCTV of a car they want to trace as they continue to investigate the death of a grandfather who was hit by a transit van on his way to work.
Paul Foster died at the scene of the collision on Aldridge Road near Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium around 6.20am on December 10.
He was on his way to the bus depot where he worked as a driver.
After studying CCTV officers are keen to trace the driver of what is believed to be a small dark-coloured Peugeot vehicle which travelled from A34 Birchfield Road onto Aldridge Road where the collision occurred.
It then drove to College Road and Kingstanding Road.
Sergeant Alan Wood, from West Midlands Police's Regional Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We would like to speak to the driver of this vehicle as we know they were travelling along Aldridge Road in close proximity to the transit van at the time of the collision.
"Mr Foster's family are devastated by his death and we owe it to them to establish what happened as he made his way to work and if someone is responsible for his death, they need to be brought to justice.
"I would like the driver to come forward to speak to me, but likewise I am asking for anyone who can help us with our enquiries to identify this small dark car to please contact us."
A 58-year-old man arrested the following day on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving remains on police bail.
Mr Foster's family have described the 61-year-old from Castle Vale as 'a true gentleman'.
They said: "A true gentleman with a heart of pure gold who would do absolutely anything for anybody.
"A loving husband to Linda and a very special dad to Mark, Sharina and Paul… he was always there through any situation.
"He was the best granddad any kid could wish for and will never be forgotten; he was our absolute rock.
"We are devastated beyond belief, our family has been torn apart. He was our world."
